Midtown has a strip of some of the more old school, nostalgic dive bars in Nashville. You can get good food, listen to live music, play darts or Giant Jenga or all of the above as you bar hop through Midtown.
The most popular spots to catch some of the best live music are Losers Bar & Grill and Winners Bar & Grill. You never know who you might see on stage at Winners (Home of Whiskey Jam- check out Grant’s article, “The Two Best Parties on a Monday Night in Nashville: Whiskey Jam vs Motown Mondays,” for more information). Locals and tourists mingle at both of these bars on their awesome double-decker, outdoor patios. I recommend that you try a Chocolate-y Bushwacker (basically a boozy version of a Wendy’s Frosty…um yum!) or an Adult Capri-Sun (spiked with vodka) at either of these places.
If you rather hear a DJ, then check out Rebar or Kung Fu Saloon. Rebar has an oversized version of Connect Four, multiple dart boards and some video games on the inside and a DJ on the outdoor patio. They have the Adult Capri Suns there too but theirs are in IV bags, which makes for some really interesting and fun pictures! They also have Bushwackers but theirs are Vanilla (one of my favorite drinks and a Must Have on a hot day). Kung Fu Saloon is like an adult’s playground. This bar offers a DJ inside, along with fun arcade games and Skee Ball. Outside, you will find Ping Pong Tables, Giant Jenga, and even Seesaws. Both of these spots offer loads of fun for you and your ladies to enjoy!
If you are over the crowds and looking for a more relaxed spot to grab a drink or two, then you should consider Red Door Saloon. Red Door has a great patio and is a fun place to hangout but is not elbow to elbow packed.
There are some really great places to eat in Midtown too with fun and stylish atmospheres. Some of the most popular are Hopsmith Tavern, The Stillery, The Tavern, Ainsworth, and Cabana. Also, most of the bars have food menus you can order from as well. Two Boots Pizza is open until 3 AM on the weekends and Daddy’s Dogs (hot dog stand) is always down by Losers Bar & Grill too, if you are looking for a late-night bite before you leave Midtown.
This is also a good place to look for a hotel or Airbnb. It still has a lot of great things to offer you and your Baches but without ALL of the hustle and bustle of downtown. Checkout Hyatt House Nashville at Vanderbilt, Loews Vanderbilt Hotel and Aloft Nashville West End for some of the more contemporary, sleek and trendy hotels that Midtown has to offer. There are many other affordable options that are centrally located throughout Midtown as well.
Pro Bach Tip:
You can smoke in Winners, Losers Bar & Grill, Rebar and Red Door Saloon so be prepared to have to wash your hair after you go to these bars (Trust Me, I know that is a big deal so I got you, girls). Rebar will sell you a baby Bushwacker (half the size and half the price) if you want to try one but do not want a full milkshake or if you are just trying to avoid Brain Freeze! I have an article posted, Baches Lookin’ for a Brunch on a Budget…This One’s for You!, that you can refer to for some of the best Brunches in Midtown, plus my recommendations on what to order!
