For you Baches looking to get away from the chaos for a couple of minutes and take a load off your feet, here are a few of my favorite Chill Bars on (and off) the strip.
First up, is one of my favorite bars in Nashville, Benchmark Sports Bar. This bar has a local “Hole in the wall” feel but hosts some of THE BEST acoustic singers in all of Nashville, in my opinion. This is a great bar to kick back and watch a game, enjoy some good bar food and sip on some cheap drinks (compared to Broadway). You will get everything from low-key easy listening with just a few patrons to a fun-loving sing along with a full bar. And, there is a small dance floor too if the beat makes you want to move your feet! I have been known to take a spin or two across the floor.
Pro Bach Tip:
Make sure you see the drink menu. They have some “specialty cocktails” for $7. It is also a good spot to give your feet a break and grab a midday or early evening snack. Next door, at Big Shotz, you can get a round of $5 double shots for your bride on your way to (or back to) Broadway! If you catch Dominique Hutchinson on stage I promise you won’t leave. *This bar is located just off Broadway on 2nd Avenue.
Next up, we take a little step back in time with the old school pub stools and wood paneling at Whiskey Bent Saloon on Broadway. Their air conditioning is always kickin’, they have an interesting décor and the bands always know how to party. The best thing about this bar is there is room to move around and usually somewhere to sit down. Ladies, there is typically little to no wait for the bathroom either, which I know we all think is important after drinking all day!
Pro Bach Tip:
There is a bar off to the right side in the back too if the main bar is busy! Even if it looks busy when you walk in, push through to the back and I bet you find room.
Alan Jackson’s, AJ’s Good Time Bar, is my next pick for a good time with a laid back vibe. Like many of the other bars, it also has three floors. It has bands on every floor but the rooftop is the best part. There is usually one acoustic player up there and a decent amount of seating. They have a “swamp cooler” up there which is like outdoor air conditioning on a small part of the patio near the musician so that is where I tend to hang out. They also have a small bar up there…it is not one of the more notable rooftops and that is why we like it. It is very chill and you can actually hold a conversation without yelling!
Pro Bach Tip:
If he is not outside, you can usually find the cutout of Alan Jackson on the first floor in the back near the Tiki bar and restrooms so make sure you get someone to take a picture of your Bachelorette crew with Mr. Jackson. Oh, and I recommend using the restroom before you go up to the roof!
